Shane's Horse Therapy!

Shane got the opportunity to do a free session of therapeutic horse riding, from Jacob's Ladder, and Moody AFB family services. We were so excited he got to do this today!!

First, Shane got to groom/pet the horse to introduce himself to the horse. He was kinda nervous/scared at the beginning. He didn't want to brush the horse, but he did like petting him. He then put a helmet on, and he did awesome!! I worried that this would be the hardest part, since he doesn't like anything on his head. He held on the horse pretty good, and the workers there were so nice and sweet to him! Here are some pics, and hopefully i can get a video on soon!

Detoxing Non-Organic Produce

Detoxing Non-Organic Produce

If you can’t find organic varieties, use these methods to reduce your toxic exposure:

  • Use a vegetable peeler to remove the skin from commercial varieties of apples, pears, nectarines and potatoes. You’ll probably need a paring knife to peel peaches.
  • For bell peppers, apples and celery, use an acid wash:
  1. Fill a large bowl or a plastic food storage container with water.
  2. Add a cup of distilled vinegar.
  3. Let the produce rest in the tub for 10 to 25 minutes, and then use a vegetable scrub brush to scrub each piece for about 60 seconds.
  4. For grapes and cherries, just let them soak for about 60 minutes.

The clean dozen you don’t have to worry about buying organic? Asparagus, avocados, cabbage, eggplant, kiwi, mangoes, onions, papayas, pineapples, sweet corn, sweet peas and watermelon.

A great visit...

We had a great visit with Nana and Grandpa last week!!! Makenna especially loved having them here, and her and Shane both had great fun with them! I wish we lived near them. I have a couple pictures to post, but I can't seem to find the camera cord, so hopefully I will have them up later today.

Back to another busy week for us full of therapy and make-up swimming lessons for Makenna (since it got canceled last week).

Still can't wait for the August issue of Military Spouse Magazine to come out!

Blog revamp.

Its been a while since I’ve posted (sorry!)  But I really want to try doing this regularly again!

Since my last post, we had a nice little side trip to South Carolina, to visit Mike’s cousin Donna and family.  Right now Mike’s parents are visiting and we love having them here!!!

Check out this old picture I found:
