Another fun filled (but tiring) weekend

We had another busy weekend. On Saturday, Mike's squadron held its first annual beer brew off contest/party. It was awesome because they also had a bounce house for the kids and Makenna had a blast. Because it was a potluck, I made these Paula Deen Cream Cheese tarts. They were super easy to make and it was a pretty dish:

Today we took the kids to Wild Adventures, a theme park here in Valdosta. It was great because it was a very nice day, there wasn't a big crowd, and there was a lot for the kids to do that they loved.

Makenna begged to go on this slide!

She wanted to go again! So brave!

Weekend of Fun

For Mike's 3 day weekend, we drove to Jacksonville, and we all had a blast. We left Saturday morning and we drove straight to the beach, so that Mike could stick his toes in the sand.

Dolphin fin Mike yelled "shark!" to scare me.

We stayed at the jax navy base at one of the cottages.

Later that night, I went to visit my friend Adrienne and her family, who I haven't seen in over 10 years! I met her at PMRF. She hasn't changed. It was a blast. Makenna had so much with all the kids.

The next day, we drove to Mike's old neighborhood, where he lived when he was a kid. We went to his old house and his old school and played at the school playground.

Then we took the kids to A Day of Play. Its a really cool place with an indoor play area, dress up stage, mini store, and lots of other cool stuff. The kids had a great time.

Later that night we saw my friend Adrienne and her family again, and had dinner and dessert.

The next day we had brunch with Mike's aunt rosey and uncle larry. It was really nice seeing them again! We all had a great time.

My brother is having a GIRL!

I just got a phone call - Justin is gonna be a daddy to a little girl. AWWW. I'm happy because Makenna will have another girl cousin- and I'm jealous - not because I want another baby right now but because I'm not there. :( Even Janell is in Hawaii right now - for a whole month! And we don't even know when we will be able to go back. So, everyone at home will be celebrating Jaime's birthday today (happy birthday cuz!) and my brother's exciting news, except for me. :(

mini obsession

I have this weird obsession with anything that is mini. I buy mini nilla wafers, mini goldfish, and mini corn dogs for the kids- Just cause they are cuter. And even though I rarely drink soda, I still love those mini cans they have- too bad they don't sell root beer in the half can. So I was very excited when I was strolling through walmart and found these:

Yay! I love bagels, and these are 100 percent whole wheat, so its mike approved!

weekend roundup

I feel accomplished this week because I got some things done that I've been meaning to do for a while. I went through some of the kids clothes that don't fit anymore and also got rid of some toys.

I did our taxes this week, so that was a big accomplishment for me, especially since I haven't been on the computer much. I had to work on them during kid's naps. Thank goodness for turbo tax!

I signed Makenna up for a 3 year old COED TBall league! Im so excited- I hope she will be into it. Practices start next month and games start in April. I took them to two different playgroups this week and also to the park. I also had their dentist appointments this week.

I finally started weights back again. I haven't lifted weights since last October, so I didn't do as heavy as Mike usually makes me do. I did squats and stiff legged deadlifts with just the bar (40lbs) and lunges with 8lbs. Gonna try to make it up to 80 lb squats and DeadLifts and 3o lb lunges. EVENTUALLY. So now I've been on the treadmill regularly about 3 times a week and now added weights 2 times a week. Pretty good eh?

We had some finger painting fun, and I went and helped Makenna with something for a couple minutes and came back to find this:

Thank goodness for Washable paint!!!!

My week

I did a few things this week, and met some new people here. On Monday, I met some other wives from Mike's Squadron, and they were really nice. On Tuesday, we hung out with the neighbors kids and had some painting fun.
Painting at the neighbors

Then that night I went to the movies with my friend Heidi, and watched 27 Dresses. It was not very good. We should've waited till it came out on TBS or something. It was a waste of money.
On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, we had some playgroup dates and also went to the park. Friday's playgroup was a Squadron playgroup, and the girls I met there were really nice too.

Yesterday (Saturday) we took the kids to Tallahassee for the day, and went to a children's Science Museum. It was a very cool Museum, but unfortunately, I forgot my camera. Dangit. Today we had 2 parties to go to - a birthday party for the neighbors little girl and a Super Bowl party at Mike's friends house. And yep, I forgot my camera to both parties there too. AARG!

For the Super Bowl party, I made brown sugar smokies, which always go well with guys, and some piggie cupcakes. I DID take pics of the cupcakes I made for the Super Bowl party. I got the inspiration from a photo I saw in the flickr photo group called Cupcakes Take the Cake.
Here's what I made:
Goldfish ears, mini nilla wafers with black frosting for the snout, black candy confetti eyes, and twizzlers pull aparts for the mouth.
Makenna ate 3 of them, and is now bouncing off the walls.
