Garage sale finds....

On Saturday, our subdivision had a neighborhood garage sale, so I woke Mike up nice and early to go look for some deals. I absolutely love garage sales! Not just because you can find stuff for real cheap, but also, there's no packaging to throw away or you don't have to put things together because they are already put together, like this really nice Toddler bed we found:

We actually got it for Shane, for when he turns 2, but we put it in Makenna's room for now, and she loves it! (I think it has to do with the princess sheets though). The best part: Mike didn't have to put it together! Some other things we found were a toy cash register and a toy drum for the kids, and some summer clothes for Shane... I did really miss my garage sale partner though, Andrea... Mike wasn't as fun ;)

Everyone (including me) is sick right now. I don't know what it is about Georgia, but the kids have been sick here way more than when we were living in Tucson. We have only been here 6 months and I think this is their 4th cold since we have been here. Usually they only have one or 2 at most per year. So today I have been dealing with runny noses and lots of whining, and all I wanna do is curl up in bed myself.

Creation of the week: I made this sock puppet for the kids:

Got the idea from my sister, who made one a couple months ago, and i thought it was super cute. I got the directions from this website: Craftbits. Im not the greatest at sewing, so it didn't turn out that great. After I was done with it, I handed it to Shane, who tossed it aside. SO worth it!

Whats going on...

I haven't blogged much lately. Its been pretty frustrating trying to take pics or videos because of the broken flash. Plus we haven't been up to much, Mike has been working long hours. Last weekend we did go to Tallahassee, to get my bridesmaid dress. We went and visited Tony and his girlfriend Maryann and went to the Science Museum there. But... no pics unfortunately.

It is starting to get pretty hot here in Valdosta... The mosquitos are here, and some of them are huge! Not like the ones in Hawaii! Also when I go outside, I am constantly waving away these things called lovebugs. And I heard it gets a lot worse. I've been taking the kids to the park a lot, before it gets too hot and unbearable.

This Saturday, my friend Bridget is gonna watch the kids while Mike and I go out. Its been a LOONG time since we've been out just the two of us so it will be nice. I am also hoping we get to go the the waterpark here on Sunday and hopefully we can get some good pictures out of that.

Not much else going on. I've been pretty addicted to this seasons American Idol and Dancing with the Stars. Every year I tell myself I'm never watching it again, but I get sucked in. Makenna sings to American Idol a lot and its pretty cute... and when the dancing show comes on, she'll yell "dancing!!!" and sometimes will shake her hips if we tell her to hula.

Both Makenna and Shane have been really into drawing this past 2 weeks. They are always at their easel drawing, and Makenna is getting pretty good! She likes to draw funny faces, bicycles, and snowmen. She can also write the letter "H", "O", "V" and sometimes "W". Shane can draw circles and scribbles. But, he has a really bad habit of wanting to draw on more than the easel...

The Dancer and the Artist

Shane dancing.. It was SOOO cute!
It reminded me of when Kainoa first started dancing:

Makenna the artist. She told me she was drawing bicycles!

And here she drew a "happy" face:

Seaworld Pics...

Unfortunately, our camera didn't take good pics. We are still having problems with it. It either overexposes pictures or doesn't flash at all.

It was really awesome seeing Ruby and her family this weekend. Sophia was so sweet and pretty and Makenna loved her. They looked like sisters walking around together.

Makenna loved the Penguin encounter the best. She kept asking to go back to it over and over. I am not sure if it was to actually see the penguins, or because it was nice and cool in there! Shane seemed to really like the stingrays. I loved the Dolphins the best! Ruby and I waited in line for one of the roller coasters for half and hour and as soon as we got on they made us get off. It started to pour. The weather wasn't the greatest for us unfortunately.

Off to Orlando!

We are going to SeaWorld! I'm excited.... except, today, I was taking a few pics of the kids, and the camera started making some weird noises! Ugh, I hope it won't break down right before our trip. So we are gonna go see Ruby, who I haven't seen in over 2 years. She's moving back to Kauai in June... soo lucky!

So, Ill update when we get back from Orlando, Hopefully with Pictures!

Workout regime

my workout plan....

I am pretty proud of myself because i have been sticking to this workout plan that Mike made for me for a couple weeks now, and i really notice a difference. What I love about it is that its a quick workout, so I actually have time to do it. What I don’t love about it is that Mike wants me to workout everyday. Ugh! my plan is a 3 day circuit training rotation of exercises that workout each part of my body:
Day 1: Calf raises, Biceps, Squats
Day 2: Abs, Triceps extensions, Stiff leg deadlifts
Day 3: Lunges, Shoulder raises, Bench press
Day 4: Start over with Day 1

Each strength training workout lasts maybe 10 minutes tops because there is no rest between sets or circuits, then I go on the treadmill for 10- 15 minutes. Its really challenging.
The hardest part for me is trying to eat as healthy as mike wants me to. I love my cookies and chocolate candy and white rice and spam and bacon and desserts and the list goes on. I try to eat lots of protein and veggies and stuff. I do take a lot of vitamins (in fact we spend a LOT of money on supplements), a multivitamin, calcium, supergreens, probiotic, fish oils.
So... Is it worth it?????? I don’t know....

Sick kids...

After the fun filled Easter weekend, the kids are now sick... congested, runny noses= lots of fun! We are skipping all playgroups this week and staying at home. Maybe I will be able to get some house things done? Hopefully it won't last too long because Mike and I were wanting to go to Tallahassee for the weekend.

My friend Alicia sent me this list and I thought it was great:

Tips for an Exceptional, Superb & Powerful Life!

1.) Take a 10-30 minute walk every day. And while you walk, smile. It is the
ultimate antidepressant.

2.) Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day. Buy a lock if you have
to.

3.) Buy a Tivo (DVR), tape your late night shows and get more sleep.

4.) When you wake up in the morning ask yourself, 'What do I really, really,
really want today?'

5.) Live with the 3 E's -- Energy, Enthusiasm, and Empathy.

6.) Watch more movies, play more games and read more books than you did last
year.

7.) Always pray and make time to exercise.

8.) Spend mo re time with people over the age of 70 and under the age of Six.

9.) Dream more while you are awake.

10.) Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less foods that
are manufactured i n plants.

11.) Drink green tea and plenty of water. Eat blueberries, wild Alaskan
salmon, broccoli, almonds & walnuts.

12.) Try to make at least three people smile each day.

13.) Clear your clutter from your house, your car, your desk and let new and
flowing energy into your life.

14.) Don't waste your precious energy on gossip, energy vampires, issues of
the past, negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead, invest
your energy in the positive present moment.

15.) Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn. Problems are
simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away like algebra class
. .....but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.

16.) Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a
college kid with a maxed out charge card.

17.) Smile and laugh more. It wil l keep the energy vampires away.

18.) Life isn't fair, but it's still good.

19.) Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.

20.) Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

21.) You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

22.) Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.

23.) Don't compare your life to others'. You have no idea what their journey
is all about.

24.) Ladies - Go on and burn those 'special' scented candles, use the 600
thread count sheets, the good china and wear our fancy lingerie now. Stop
waiting f o r a special occasion. Everyday is special.

25.) No one is in charge of your happiness except you.

26.) Frame every so-called disaster with these words: 'In five years, will
this matter?'

27.) Forgive everyone for everything.

28.) What other people think of you is none of your business.

29.) Time heals almost everything. Give time, time!

30.) However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

31.) Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will.
Stay in touch with them.

32.) Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.

33.) Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need. God provides
remember?!

34.) The best is yet to come.

35.) No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.

36.) Do the right thing!

37.) Call your friends/family often.

38.) Each night before you go to bed complete the following statement: 'I am
thankful for __________.'

39.) Remember that you are too blessed to be stressed.

40.) Enjoy the ride. Remember that this is not Disney World and you
certainly don't want a fast pass. You only have one ride through life so
make the most of it and enjoy the ride. LIVE, LOVE, LAUGH. LIFE'S A GIFT ..
UNWRAP IT! Have a Blessed day.

Lots o pics

One cool thing about Georgia, they have a LOT of festivals. This weekend was the Azalea festival, and the kids had a BLAST. There were pony rides, lots of bouncy play things, a train ride, music, food and a petting zoo.

Shane

Since the last blog was all about Makenna, Here's a cute video of shane t-balling too!

Makenna's First TBall Practice

Yesterday was Makenna's first Tball practice! She liked hitting the ball and running to the bases, but didn't really want to stay in her place on the field too much! She didn't want to keep the mitt on her hand, because it was brown, she said she wanted a "pink" mitt (she saw another girl with a pink one) How girly!

And Makenna also is practicing her singing skills:
