Shane has been doing really really good lately! Everyone that sees him, like his speech therapists and my friends all say they notice he's been making eye contact a lot and generally seems happy, like he's always smiling and laughing now. That makes me so happy! The diet has been hard, but we are trying. He's still not fully off of gluten stuff, but the majority of his food is dairy and gluten free. Also, I started giving him some really good quality (ie. expensive!) liquid vitamins 3 times a day made specifically for children with autism. I think they help a lot too.
He goes in to see the Biomedical doctor in Macon, GA on Monday. I know they are going to run a bunch of tests on him, (like toxicity levels, specific allergens, etc), but we will have to wait a couple months for those results. I hope he does ok! Then he goes back to Marcus Autism Center in Atlanta on Aug. 18. Lots of doc appts!
Early intervention services for Shane will end when he turns 3, October 15th, and they recommend him starting special ed school then. Mike and I are both unsure about this yet, he seems so young! But they want to start him off 2 days a week I think, half days. Any body have any thoughts about this?
Makenna starts her school on Sept.8 I can't wait! I have also enrolled her in a beginners ballet/tap dance class! I am so excited for her to start!
